Anatoly Konstantinovich Lyadov (1855 - 1914) was a Russian composer and conductor. Lyadov was born to a family of eminent Russian musicians. He graduated from the St.Petersburg Conservatory, where he was studying composition under Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Lyadov was an author of programmatic music and arrangements of Russian folk-songs. His style blended in the influences of the Russian nationalistic school with the Western Romantic trends. Among his pupils were several renowned composers, including Sergei Prokofiev, Nikolai Myaskovsky, Mihail Gnesin and Boris Asafiev.
