Allen Berg

Allen Berg (born 1 August 1961 in Vancouver, British Columbia, canada) was a Formula One driver who raced for the Osella team. He began in karting in 1978 and switched to cars when he was 20, into Formula Atlantic . In 1982 he did very well in the Formula Pacific series in Australia and New Zealand and finally entered British Formula 3 series in 1983. However, his timing was bad since he had to compete against Ayrton Senna and Martin Brundle, but he managed to win whichever race when they didn't finish and ended up fifth in the series. The following year he was eclipsed by Johnny Dumfries, but managed to be runner-up in the British F3 series with eight second places. In 1985 he went back to Canada and raced a few times in Mexico, until finding sponsorship in 1986 to buy himself an Osella F1 drive. He qualified for nine races but never enough to draw much attention. He later returned to Canada and eventually became the owner of a North American Formula Junior team.
