Aengus mac Nadfraoch, fifth century A.D., was the first Christian king of Munster. A member of the Eoghanacht dynasty, around 448 he invited Saint Patrick to Cashel. During the baptism, Saint Patrick accidentally pierced Aengus' foot with his crosier. Aengus, thinking it was part of the ceremony, endured the great pain until the ceremony was over.
