Acoustic fingerprint

An acoustic fingerprint is a unique code generated from a piece of music. It can be used to identify music files and is also used by authorities on radio broadcasts to identify which songs are played. MusicBrainz is a project which alongside other information, stores acoustic fingerprints for songs it contains.
