Guards

(Redirected from "Guards")

Guards is an honorific title given to Soviet Red Army and Soviet Navy units who performed heroically during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). Units thus honored were presented the Guards Red Banner with all personnel receiving enamaled Guards Badges. They then received superior and/or more weapons and training to make them even more effective.

Stalin established the first "guards" units and the criteria to be designated so.
